Sorry about my posting gap-been busy around here! Here are some pics of the shed, completed except for the holding yard *sigh* the holding yard is going in next weekend, which would've been perfect as the ewes are due from the next Monday.............however ewe number 20 aka 'the udder' has got me thinking that perhaps we'll have lambs before then, hopefully she can hang on that long, but I doubt it...............but I have been wrong before! All the ewes have been shorn and look quite sleek without their woolly coats, they are getting some sheep nuts to help keep the cold out.

that looks potentially cosy. fyi shearing during winter increases their energy requirements (dse) by 30% just to keep warm, even though it is great to have them neat and tidy before milking!
I had to shear them before lambing this year, they get too woolly and fat to fir through the milk stalling otherwise! I know they need to eat more to keep warm (amazing considering how much they already eat LOL), they have already put on some weight and are looking great! They also tend to stay in more sheltered areas reducing the lambsicle effect-or so I hope-thawing out lambs has never been a favourite pass time...
